Moav Deseret Hotel

Competition Entry

In collaboration with Yoav Messer Architects

This competition entry envisions a transformative Moav Desert Hotel—an eighty-suite and villa resort nestled near Arad, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Dead Sea. The design is deeply rooted in sustainable practices, locally sourced materials are used to minimize environmental impact. Partially burying the structures within the landscape not only minimizes the visual intrusion but also leverages the earth's thermal properties for natural climate control. Thatched roofs, inspired by traditional desert architecture, provide shade and thermal insulation, while extensive outdoor walkways, pools, and gathering spaces seamlessly blend the built environment with the surrounding desert. This design is a sophisticated reinterpretation of nomadic architecture, paying homage to the historical Nabataean presence in the region and creating a harmonious dialogue between human habitation and the unspoiled beauty of the desert landscape. The result is a luxurious yet environmentally conscious retreat, where guests can immerse themselves in the rich history and of the Dead Sea region.
