Tel Aviv University Art Centre
Winning Competition
In collaboration with Chyutin Architects
This proposal outlines a plan to expand Tel Aviv University's art galleries (Genia Schreiber and Michel Kikoïne) by adding a new research and teaching wing. The expansion aims to create a comprehensive Arts Center integrating art collection, research, and education, strategically located at the interface of the university and city.
The new wing's design integrates with the university's masterplan, enhancing pedestrian pathways and creating a balanced relationship between built and green spaces. The three-story addition will house research archives, multipurpose spaces (auditorium, classrooms, exhibition gallery), and offices, while maintaining a harmonious relationship with the existing gallery buildings and Sculpture Garden. The design incorporates multiple entrances, including a new main entrance aligning with the campus's central axis, and aims to create a fluid sequence of movement throughout the expanded Arts Center.
